Vacation 2001 - The Wild, Wild West - Highway 50 Return to the main Highway 50 section |
Sarah at Sunset,Highway 50
Since I love the golden light that is given off near sunset, I pulled over a got a few shots as the sun sank low in the sky. Sarah, ever the trooper, put up with more requests for photos.
We had hoped to do more searching for ghost towns on this day, but we got too late a start. We had to push on to Eureka for an overnight stay. By the way, the Best Western in Eureka, Nevada, is a great place to spend the night.
In Eureka, at 8:00 p.m., at the lone convenience store that was open, we saw the "loneliest hot dog" to be found along the "loneliest road in America." No telling how long it had been spinning on the heated rollers, but it was the last one left. We were hungry, but not that hungry.
